The 5th Annual Welfare Food Challenge started on Sunday, October 16, 2016. I am on Day 4 of this challenge. My goal is to raise awareness of BC’s low welfare rates and how they are forcing families into poverty and hunger. My food allowance for the week is $18 – and that doesn’t go very far. You will notice that I only bought a bag of carrots, and no other fruits or veggies (and you can forget about buying organic or fair trade). I haven’t yet been to the food bank – but at this rate, I might have to.
